Check-in

Check-in refers to the process of officially registering a traveler’s arrival at a location to access travel services and receive necessary documentation like boarding passes or room keys. Here are the key scenarios in which check-in is used:

  • airport check-in verifies a traveler’s flight reservation and identity;
  • hotel check-in registers a guest’s arrival at the accommodation;
  • cruise check-in confirms the passenger’s reservation before boarding the ship;
  • event check-in confirms participation in tours, excursions, or travel-related activities; and
  • baggage check-in registers luggage for transport, ensuring it is tagged and sent to the correct destination.

Travelers can check in online via a website or mobile app, through self-service kiosks, or at a check-in counter. This process involves confirming their booking, providing required documents, and presenting tickets or proof of purchase.

During check-in, you can also make necessary adjustments. For example, before a flight, when checking in online, you can select a seat.
