Connectivity provider
A connectivity provider in hospitality is a company that offers software tools to help properties distribute their inventory. Usually, it entails using a channel manager as a standalone solution or as part of a property management system (PMS).
These tools automate channel management, connecting the property to multiple distribution channels such as GDSs, OTAs, wholesalers, direct booking platforms, etc. Channel managers synchronize prices, availability, and other content across channels, updating information once any changes occur.
In some cases, hospitality businesses can outsource their distribution to connectivity providers altogether.
Smaller properties that don’t work with a connectivity provider have to manage their distribution manually, usually via OTA extranets. That carries the risks of desynchronized content, overbooking, and rate parity issues.
