ETA
ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is an entry requirement authorization granted by a country’s immigration authorities that allows travelers to board a flight or enter the country for tourism, business, or transit purposes without requiring a traditional visa. It can be obtained through an online application process.
ETA rules vary by country. For example, Canada doesn’t require travelers to print a physical document. Instead, airline staff scans the traveler’s passport to confirm that they have a valid ETA. The document is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires.
ETAs simplify the entry process (as the electronic system is faster and more streamlined than processing traditional visa applications) while maintaining security and control for both travelers and immigration authorities.
