NDC fare
NDC fare refers to ticket prices an airline makes available via channels that support New Distribution Capability (NDC) by IATA. Typically, they are cheaper than those sold traditionally, involving GDS and old EDIFACT communication.
Airlines can distribute NDC fares via middlemen such as flight aggregators and GDSs or through direct API connections with NDC-enabled OTAs and TMCs.
To encourage travel agencies to book NDC fares, airlines apply surcharges to base fares distributed via GDS EDIFACT, remove their cheapest option from traditional channels, or create branded offers exclusive to NDC.
