Reservation

A reservation is a pre-arranged booking a customer makes to secure a service or product, like a hotel stay, vacation rental, flight, tour, short-term rental, car rental, or restaurant table, for a specific date and time.

Reservations often require a deposit or full payment and can be made directly with the service provider (airlines, hotels, tour operators) or through intermediaries like online travel agencies (OTAs) or travel agents. Upon payment, booking confirmations are sent to guests via email or SMS.

Details of reservations vary depending on the type. Hotel reservations typically include the guest’s name, contact information, check-in and check-out dates, room type and preferences, and payment info. Flight reservations include PNR data, flight numbers, baggage allowance, priority boarding, departure and arrival times, and seat assignments.

Reservations may be refundable or non-refundable, depending on the service provider’s cancellation policy. It’s best to make early reservations ahead of peak seasons to lock in your preferred accommodation (or service) at the lowest rates.
