Seat pitch

Seat pitch is the distance between a fixed point on one seat and the same point on the seat in front of it. It indicates how much seat room a passenger gets.

A larger seat pitch makes flights more comfortable for travelers and is used as a competitive factor. Seat pitch increases with the class of travel, with economy class offering the least space (typically 28-32 inches) and business-class seats featuring more space (38 inches) or even lie-flat beds.

Airlines balance seat pitch with revenue goals, as reducing seat pitch allows for more seats in the aircraft, increasing passenger capacity and potential ticket sales.
