Sleeper train

A sleeper train is a type of passenger train that allows travelers to sleep while they reach their destination. These trains are common on long-distance and international routes.

A sleeper train contains sleeping cars (also known as sleepers or wagon-lits) with bunk beds (or couchettes). Depending on the level of comfort, it may include simple couchettes (bunk-style shared compartments), private cabins with beds, or luxury suites.

Sleeper trains allow passengers to travel overnight and arrive at their destination in the morning, saving both travel time and the cost of a night’s accommodation.
