Tourist card

A tourist card is a traveler’s citizenship identity card that grants foreign visitors permission to enter and stay in a country for a specific period. It is an official document issued by a country’s immigration authorities for tourism purposes.

A tourist card allows countries to track and regulate the entry of foreign visitors, ensuring that they stay for the allowed time. It serves as a permit for travelers from countries that do not need a full visa but still require formal documentation to enter.

Each country has its specific requirements, so travelers must do their research before the trip. For example, you must complete an online registration 30 days before landing in Mexico, while Chile provides the card to foreign citizens upon arrival at the airport or border crossing. The validity period (30, 60, 90, or even 180 days) depends on the country as well.

Not all countries require tourist cards. The ones that do are primarily Latin American countries (Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Chile, and more).
