Transit lounge

A transit lounge is a designated area in an airport where passengers can wait while they are in transit between connecting flights.

These lounges provide comfortable seating, food and beverages, WiFi, charging stations, entertainment (TV, newspapers, etc.), private rest areas, and sometimes even shower facilities.

Some transit lounges are accessible to all passengers, while others may be exclusive to business or first-class travelers, loyalty program members, or those who have purchased lounge access.

The transit area is usually considered an international zone, not part of a country’s domestic territory. Since travelers are not officially entering the country, there is no need for passport control, customs inspections, or immigration checks.
