Transportation Security Administration (TSA)

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is an agency responsible for ensuring consistency and effectiveness of security practices in aviation within the United States.

TSA oversees the security screening of passengers, baggage, and cargo at airports. Security officers use various screening technologies to detect prohibited items and enhance safety aboard flights. This involves using X-ray machines to screen carry-on and checked luggage, identifying metallic objects on passengers with walk-through and handheld metal detectors, and more.

Security screenings of passengers also include conducting physical pat-downs to detect and prevent the transportation of prohibited items onto aircraft.
