Virtual credit card (VCC)
A virtual credit card (VCC) is a digital version of a traditional credit card with a unique set of numbers typically issued for a one-time use or a limited time frame. The key advantage of a VCC is enhanced security, as the unique numbers associated with virtual cards and their usage restrictions reduce the risk of fraud or unauthorized transactions.
In the travel industry, travel management companies often provide VCCs to business travelers for secure and convenient payment processing when booking flights, hotels, rental cars, or other travel products. VCCs support travel and expense management by providing detailed transaction data that can be easily tracked and reconciled. Furthermore, virtual cards often come with customizable spending limits and expiration dates, offering greater control over travel-related expenditures.
VCCs are also used in B2B transactions, for example, to enable secure payments from a travel reseller (e.g., a travel agency) to a travel supplier (e.g., a hotel).
