AI-based Travel Assistant Wins AltexSoft’s GenAI Hackathon

Nov 29, 2024 — AltexSoft, a Travel & Hospitality Technology Consulting company, concludes a hackathon as a travel assistant based on ChatGPT API wins the competition.

The hackathon was part of a wider Month of AI, a set of activities at AltexSoft aimed at knowledge sharing and collaboration across departments and teams. It helped engineers, managers, and admin staff learn large language models (LLMs) capabilities and train at building products based on LLM APIs. Besides the hackathon, the Month of AI included webinars on OpenAI SDKs, LLM agents, and prompt techniques. 

The first-place winner, the travel assistant, allows users to enter natural language search queries using a chat or voice interface, receive curated hotel and activity options based on preferences and locations, and book accommodations they have found. The tool is based on GPT-4 API and employs Elasticsearch as a vector database for semantic text processing. 

The Jira AI assistant took second place. It accesses the Jira project management environment via an API and retrieves tasks, assignees, and task details based on natural language requests. The assistant helps project and product managers retrieve custom datasets from Jira to run analytics on them. It also allows users with little Jira experience to quickly access the project information they want. 

The CV matching tool took third place. It automatically vets candidate CVs based on experience, skills, and cultural fit. The system also analyzes interview transcripts to provide managers with detailed feedback on candidates based on mentioned criteria. 

The teams plan on further developing and refining their products as AltexSoft considers making hackathons a recurrent activity to boost knowledge exchange across teams engaged in different projects.
