About AltexSoft
AltexSoft is building a new AI Engineering Department as part of a company-wide AI transformation, and we're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with strong AI-native development experience to help shape it. This is a hands-on role for engineers who use AI as a force multiplier — not a replacement for engineering judgment — and who can take ownership of production-grade backend software from architecture through delivery, regardless of whether the work is produced by a human or an AI agent. The core requirement isn't a specific language — it's confident, hands-on experience working in an AI-first way: Specification-Driven Development, agentic workflows, and orchestrating AI throughout the SDLC.
About Project
AltexSoft is an AI-powered software engineering consulting company helping global businesses design, build, and scale intelligent digital products. Our AI Engineering department is technology-agnostic on language — engineers may come from a .NET, Java, Python, or similar backend background — but is anchored in a shared, non-negotiable approach: building software with AI at the center of the process, not on the side. This engineer will be positioned to join multiple active engagements applying this approach.
You Have
- strong professional backend engineering experience (.NET, Java, Python, or equivalent), including solid fundamentals in architecture, system design, testing, debugging, security, and performance
- real, hands-on experience — not just basic exposure — working in an AI-native development workflow, with confident understanding of how AI fits across planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and delivery
- practical experience with Specification-Driven Development (SDD) and agentic development flows
- experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, or equivalent)
- experience building or orchestrating AI agents for engineering or business workflows
- strong prompt and context engineering skills
- solid understanding of LLMs — capabilities, limitations, hallucination risks, and validation techniques
the ability to critically evaluate and improve AI-generated code, architecture, docs, and tests before deployment - strong ownership mindset, accountable for outcomes regardless of human or AI authorship
- excellent communication skills; Upper-Intermediate English or higher
Would be a plus
Experience with one or more of the following: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), multi-agent systems, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI SDK, Anthropic API, Google Gemini, Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, vector databases, AI evaluation frameworks, AI-assisted testing, AI-assisted architecture design, AI-powered DevOps automation, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
You Are Going To
- design, build, and deliver production-grade backend software solutions across multiple client projects.
- apply AI-native engineering practices throughout the entire Software Development Lifecycle
- break down complex business problems into structured specifications and executable implementation plans using SDD
- use AI coding agents to accelerate software delivery while maintaining full ownership of architecture, code quality, security, and maintainability
- build, configure, and orchestrate AI agents to automate engineering and business workflows
- create high-quality technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans before development begins
- review, validate, and improve AI-generated code, tests, documentation, and technical designs
- collaborate closely with architects, product managers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and AI specialists
- participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering decision-making
- continuously improve delivery quality, engineering efficiency, and AI adoption across projects
- share knowledge and contribute to the evolution of AltexSoft's AI Engineering practices
